Are you a good coordinator? Use those valuable skills to help the Kaleidoscope of Hope Foundation.

Here is my version of a Woman of Teal. I created it during an art therapy class at CINJ in November 2007.

I met Dee Sparacio at the 2008 Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG Summit in Ohio, and she introduced me to the Kaleidoscope of Hope Foundation where she is on the Board.  She is a TWO TIME Ovarian Cancer survivor – an amazing woman.  If you have a few moments, you should check out her blog, Women of Teal (Get it, “Women of Teal”… “Man of Steel”…how witty is that?!)

Have you ever seen those teal ribbons around the trees around September? They are there to commemorate National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and chances are, if you’re seeing them in New Jersey they were put there by the Kaleidoscope of Hope Foundation.

Kaleidoscope of Hope is a New Jersey based non-profit with a mission to raise funds for ovarian cancer research and increase awareness of the disease.  In September, National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, KOH holds walks in Morristown, Lyndhurst and Avon to raise funds for research. KOH is in need of a volunteer walk coordinator for their 2010 walks.

Duties include:

  1. Consult with our walk event planner and walk chairs regarding walk dates. Notify web master to publish dates online.
  2. With a graphic artist, modify the walkathon registration form. Determine list of sponsors for inclusion on the registration form. Proof forms.  Send PDF file to printer.
  3. Contact t-shirt company. Work with graphic artist for the layout of sponsors on the t-shirt.  Order shirts.
  4. Update posters for all three walkathons.
  5. Modify street banners with date changes.
  6. Choose, purchase and engrave awards for all three walkathons.
  7. Clear requests from vendors or walkathon chairs to sell items at the walkathons.
  8. Along with other KOH volunteers determine final totals for all walks, expenses, etc.
